Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position at a major hospital campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
• Med/Surg Telemetry RN role.
• Shifts: 3x12-hour shifts only (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing; passing scores required.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license.
• Certifications required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Must pass background checks, fingerprinting, and drug screening as per facility policy.

Certifications & Competencies

• Annual renewal required for:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Unit-specific competency exams
• Pass/Fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation (SafeMedicate).
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.

Licensure & Background Checks

• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing after 4/11/2025).
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Onboarding & Orientation

• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
• Onboarding process may take multiple days; candidates should prioritize completion.
• Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have reduced orientation requirements.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID during assignment.
• Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
• Two professional references required from recent employment within one year, from supervisors or managers only.
• Candidates must be capable of safely performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, who are comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts and meeting comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
