Location: Wichita, Kansas

Job Description

  • Work at a Level 1 trauma center.
  • Requires proficiency with Cerner electronic health records system.

Required Credentials & Certifications

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Must be AHA certified.
  • NIH Certification – Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course completed prior to start.
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion – Completed at orientation (optional for onboarding).

Licenses & Verifications

  • Nursys Verification – Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation.
  • Current Nursing License – Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver’s License/State ID – Must be current and valid; address must match licensing requirements.
  • Ascension Education Verification – Verification of relevant education within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Employment Verification – Third-party employment verification for past 7 years.
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check – Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender check.
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) – Run within 90 days of start.

Testing & Checklists

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out – Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.
  • Ascension Specialty Exam – Completed prior to first assignment; minimum 80% passing score.
  • Ascension Core Competencies – HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated yearly.
  • Ascension EKG Exam – Must pass with at least 80%; only two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist – Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen – Completed within 30 days prior to start; includes testing for 12 specified substances.

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B – Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine – Required during flu season; exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire – Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, chest x-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Required within 1 year and 30 days of start.
  • Varicella – Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap – Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test – Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite.

Other Requirements

  • Health Statement – Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation – Completion of pre-hire education attestation.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding – Completed onsite prior to assignment.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip – Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment – Documentation of assignment dates required.
  • Ascension Profile – Resume or professional profile submission.
  • Ascension 2 Professional References – At least two professional references required.
