Description

Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions appropriately.
  • Coordinate all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Work Environment

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Required Certifications & Credentials

  • BLS (AHA certified)
  • PALS (AHA certified)
  • ACLS (AHA certified)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (test and checklist)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated as per latest edition)

Licenses & Verifications

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements).

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Positive PPD or Negative Chest X-Ray and annual TB questionnaire.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA test within required timeframes.
  • Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.

Onboarding & Training Requirements

  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite).
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip training (pre-hire modules).
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually).
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check and EPLS (within 30 days prior to start).
  • Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days prior to start).
  • Ascension Employment Verification (third-party verification for past 7 years).
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (provided upon initial assignment and updates).

Optional / Additional Requirements

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding).
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion (completed at orientation).
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (optional for submission).
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment).
  • Legal documentation of name change (if applicable).

This position requires a highly skilled and credentialed RN with emergency room experience, able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. All certifications and verifications must be current and compliant with Ascension Health standards.
