Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical (Float Pool)
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float pool position with expected floating between two nearby facilities (10-15 minutes apart).
- Work schedule includes every other weekend.
- No on-call requirements.
Required Credentials & Certifications
Licenses & Verification
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Driver's License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association required).
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years).
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training.
Health & Immunizations
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years).
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start; updated annually.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing with required follow-up and annual TB questionnaire.
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and TB questionnaire.
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Onboarding & Testing Requirements
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score, two attempts allowed.
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of 80%, two attempts allowed).
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out with signed attestation.
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within one year of start, updated annually).
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite).
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6-hour pre-hire training).
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (for non-allied positions).
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot, white or blue background, no filters).
Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- EPLS check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.
Optional / Additional Information
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader).
- Positive PPD documentation and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended).
- Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment, optional).
- Legal documentation for name changes (optional).
This position is ideal for RNs with medical/surgical experience who are flexible with floating between nearby facilities and meet comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
