Registered Nurse (RN) - Specialty Care

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy for individuals and families. The RN must comply with all professional standards and regulations, promote a patient-centered healing environment, and support professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to policy.
• Manage resources effectively including staffing, time, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

• 6 months to 3 years of RN nursing experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Commitment to quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific certifications as required.
• Preferred: CCRN and relevant certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC depending on unit assignment.
