Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in the Emergency Room specialty.
  • Facility is part of a large hospital system in Wichita, KS.

Required Credentials and Certifications

Licenses & Verification (Required for Submission)

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver's License or State ID (must be current and match address on file).
  • Resume/Profile.
  • At least two professional references.

Certifications (Required for Onboarding)

  • BLS (AHA certified)
  • PALS (AHA certified)
  • ACLS (AHA certified)
  • TNCC (renewed every 4 years)
  • NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or MOAB De-Escalation Course)

Testing & Exams (Required for Onboarding)

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated as of Dec 2023)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements (Required for Onboarding)

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing required with annual TB questionnaire
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and TB questionnaire (optional for onboarding)
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start, updated annually
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Additional Onboarding Requirements

  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations
  • Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire education modules
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check, updated annually
  • Ascension EPLS: Updated within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Education Verification: Verification of clinical education within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Employment Verification: Verification of employment for past 7 years, updated annually
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates for extensions

Optional Credentials

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (uploaded by unit leader within a week)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion (completed at orientation)
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (optional for onboarding)
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
  • Ascension Name Change Document (legal documentation)
