Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (day/night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start

Orientation & Testing

  • Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for exam preparation

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Education verification required for all candidates

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Employment History & References

  • Application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during assignment
  • Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing exemptions
  • Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
