Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Pass/fail ECG and medication testing during orientation.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test.
• Orientation includes competency exams and assessments.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Background & Compliance

• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months and updated annually; must be completed under nursing code 4723.09.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Education verification required for all candidates.

Documentation & History

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty.
• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing requirements waived.
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive health, safety, and compliance requirements.
