Description

Job Opportunity: Travel RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Facility: St. Joseph Campus

Contract Length

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
  • Nursys Verification: Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require completion of FACIS Questionnaire.
  • License/Certificate Verification: Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require FACIS Questionnaire.

Required Training and Competencies

  • Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score required.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Must complete with at least 80% passing score; only two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: 6-hour pre-hire training with attestation.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite prior to start.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training: Required.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Positive PPD/Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, chest x-ray within one year, and completed TB questionnaire; updated annually.
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): First PPD within 1 year, second within 30 days of start; or negative IGRA within 90 days prior to start.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start; includes testing for 12 specified drugs; must include MRO review if applicable.

Professional and Background Requirements

  • Driver's License/State ID: Must be current and match address on file; for out-of-state placements, address must match home state for compact license.
  • Ascension Profile (Resume): Required for submission.
  • Professional References: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days of first assignment and updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check: Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Education Verification: Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; updated if break in service > 90 days.
  • Employment Verification: Third-party verification for past seven years; updated annually or after breaks in service.
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with each extension; must reflect accurate start and end dates.

Optional / Additional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; must be uploaded by unit leader within a week.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation: Post-assignment evaluation (optional).
  • Name Change Documentation: Legal documentation if applicable (optional).

This position requires thorough compliance with Ascension Health’s credentialing, health, and training standards prior to and during the assignment.
