Job Opportunity: Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN (7th Floor)

Location: Silverdale, Washington
Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry, 7th Floor
Unit Size: 32 beds
Patient Ratios:

  • 4:1 (50% of shifts)
  • 5:1 (50% of shifts)

Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Shifts:
    • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
    • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling with ability to fill open shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: One winter holiday and one summer holiday
  • Call/Standby: Possible standby, no call required
  • Floating: Required
  • Orientation: No Return to Orientation (RTO) for the traveler during the first week
  • Dress Code: Professional and clean; no jeans

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Medical/Surgical with Telemetry experience
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years Medical/Surgical experience (including Telemetry)
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Active Washington State RN License
    • BLS Certification
    • ACLS Certification
    • Telemetry Certification (BLS TELE)
  • Skills:
    • Ability to titrate drips (e.g., insulin, pain medications)
    • Validate telemetry strips (centralized telemetry system)

Unit Environment & Support

  • Charge Nurse and House Supervisor present
  • Nurse Aides available with ratios averaging 8:1 to 10:1
  • Respiratory Therapy equipment available including BiPAP and High Flow oxygen
  • Highly functioning, family-oriented team with great support

Additional Notes

  • Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks; expect 25+ hours
  • Auto offer based on clinical recommendation; start date and return to orientation require unit manager approval
  • Washington state tax auto-deducted but can be re-added

This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs with telemetry skills looking for a supportive team environment and flexible scheduling in a hospital setting.
