Job Opportunity: Med/Tele - K5 Nurse

Location: Lufkin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 24
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Patient Types: CHF, diabetes, pneumonia (PNA), chronic kidney disease (CKD), medical/surgical telemetry patients
• Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen patients

Requirements & Skills

• Specialty: Med/Tele nursing
• Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated (default to standard for Med/Tele roles)
• Certifications: BLS required
• Skills: Great communication and time management
• Ability to read telemetry strips (tele monitor techs monitor patients, but RNs must read strips)
• Must be able to titrate drips if required (not specified as required here)

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• Scheduling: Managed by manager, block scheduling not guaranteed

Orientation & Support

• Unit/Department Orientation provided (Kurth Tower med/surg tele orientation)
• Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators available for support
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present with a ratio of 1:12

• Transitioned to VIC (Virtual Integrated Care nursing model)
• Must work the schedule assigned by management
