Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Assignment in HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool at a major hospital campus.
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts. Shift rotation may be required based on hospital needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
  • Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Progressive care experience preferred but not required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.

Prior Travel Experience

  • Travel experience in Cardiac Stepdown is accepted; no explicit requirement for prior travel experience stated.

Orientation & Testing

  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing; passing scores required.
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing required onsite during orientation (except for certain legacy candidates).

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting required.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually. Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite.
  • Education verification required for all candidates.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing after 4/11/2025).
  • Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references from within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, or director (co-worker references not accepted).
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment.
  • Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required.
