Job Opportunity: Therapy/Rehabilitation - Occupational Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length:
15 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 8-hour days
  • Must hold a valid California OT License
  • Must be a Certified Hand Therapist OR hold a California Advanced Practice license in Hand Therapy AND Physical Agent Modalities
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system
  • Pediatric experience is highly preferred

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • California OT License
  • Certified Hand Therapist OR California Advanced Practice license in Hand Therapy AND Physical Agent Modalities
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – verify based on specific assignment

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Occupational Therapy specialty
  • Pediatric experience highly preferred
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Current and valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID matching professional license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and county-specific checks
  • Education verification (copy of diploma or transcript acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required; onsite fit testing available as last resort)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted without medical exemption)
    • Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or Tspot) with specific timing requirements
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
    • Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC, within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination and booster requirements or approved exemptions

Training & Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exam (passing score 80%+, completed within 12 months prior to start)
  • Core Parts I, II, and III training modules (passing score 80%+, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually)
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication exams on first day of orientation (for applicable nursing roles)
  • Cyber Security Awareness Training and Quiz (annual requirement)
  • HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module and Quiz (for clinical and non-clinical as applicable)

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to complete facility-specific documents such as parking/uniform info, COVID-19 preparedness, and annual TB questionnaire
  • References: Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
  • Updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained
  • Skills checklist updated annually
