Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Tele) - Cleveland, Ohio

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
• Location: Cleveland, Ohio
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week (3x12-hour shifts)
• Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification (updated annually)
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.

Orientation & Testing

• Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation.
• Orientation includes completion of online training modules prior to start.
• SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for review before orientation.

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
• Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.

Documentation & Compliance

• Must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area.
• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.
• State license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements.

Additional Notes

• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Modules for onboarding must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments may have some orientation/testing exemptions.
• Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts to meet operational needs but will try to honor preferred shifts.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
