Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at returning patients to optimal health.
• Provide bedside nursing care and carry out medical orders.
• Delegate and oversee tasks performed by Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, OB Care Associates, Surgical Service Assistants, Nursing Clerks, and Psychiatric Techs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
• Assume leadership roles including:

  • Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
  • Delegation and coordination of nursing care tasks.
  • Participation in patient conferences.
  • Identifying and addressing patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
  • Professional growth through educational opportunities.
  • Teaching, guiding, precepting, and mentoring new employees and students.
  • Functioning as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and assignment delegation.
• Communicate relevant information clearly and effectively.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills.

Work Environment & Details

• Comfortable floating to Emergency Department (ED) and Step Down units (required).
• ICU nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2, or 1:1 for special populations.
• Step Down unit ratio approximately 1:4.
• ED ratios similar to ICU when caring for critical patients.
• Dress code: Navy Blue
• Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner

Licensing

• Active Michigan RN license required at time of submission

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable with floating to ED and Step Down units, who hold required certifications and are seeking a temporary assignment in Michigan. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
