Job Opportunity: Cath Lab/IR Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Rockville, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Role: Cath Lab/IR Tech (will accept RCIS if traveler has IR experience)
  • Shift: 10-hour day shifts
  • Caseload Ratio: 8-12 cases per shift
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 full weekend call per month
  • On-Call: Approximately 7-10 days per month; STEMI call team must respond within 30 minutes of activation with a 2-hour callback guarantee
  • Floating: No floating between units required
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma
  • Total Staffed Beds: 360
  • Charting Systems: Cerner, McKesson
  • Scrub Color: Provided
  • Parking: Badge allows free exit from patient visitor parking garage

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) with Maryland License OR RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
  • State License: Maryland professional license required, must not expire within 30 days of start
  • Tech Certification Verification: Either RCIS or ARRT with MD license for Cath Lab Tech
  • Other certifications as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) depending on specialty area

Facility Policies & Requirements

  • Background Checks: 7-year criminal check within 1 year of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Fingerprinting: Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI fingerprinting required for behavioral health units; must be completed in Maryland at least 5 business days before start with clear results
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit Mask Testing: Fit test required within 12 months of start; no religious or medical exemptions accepted without facility-approved accommodation; must comply with facial hair policies
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Tdap within last 10 years (must include Pertussis)
    • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step TST with clear chest x-ray if history positive
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; 2 boosters required for low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Positive quantitative IGG titer within 5 years required; series must be repeated if low titer until positive or 6 doses received
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; 2 boosters required for low titer
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Mandatory for 2025-26 season with no declination option except approved religious or medical exemptions
    • COVID-19 Vaccination: Strongly recommended; declinations require facility approval
  • Eye Exam: Visual acuity screening within 6 months of start, repeated annually; minimum corrected vision 20/40 both eyes
  • Color Blind Exam: Must be completed within 5 years of start; online exam acceptable

Additional Requirements

  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance Evaluation: Required if worked with the agency over 1 year
  • Employment Application/Resume: Required
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable units
  • Radiation Badge: Provided by facility for new radiology candidates; agency no longer provides badges for new candidates
  • Attestation of Prior Radiation Exposure: Required for new candidates working in radiation-related units
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable
  • Orientation: Facility-specific forms must be printed and brought to orientation
