Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel/Contract)
Location: Weston, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Operating Room (OR)
- Start Date: Next applicable orientation date (3-4 weeks out)
- Employment includes floating within scope to meet facility needs
- On-call requirement: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
- Block scheduling is NOT accommodated
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Pending license accepted
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
- Smoke-free facility: All travelers must be nicotine-free (verified by negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of direct RN Operating Room experience required
- Strong experience required in Robotics, Orthopedics (Ortho), and Neurosurgery (Neuro)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience is NOT required
Certifications Required (Must have at time of submission or prior to start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification must be obtained prior to start
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- E-Verify documentation
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every 30 days)
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine within 1 year of start (no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (updated annually)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccination series (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start required for travel positions
- Employment application and performance evaluations (if applicable)
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Orientation and Training
- Time-sensitive online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (access provided after contract signing)
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone
- Candidates cannot skip training videos; must watch fully before testing
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Pharmacology) administered during orientation; 2 attempts allowed per test
- Additional competency exams as applicable to profession/specialty
Additional Notes
- Facility is smoke-free and requires nicotine-free status verified by drug screening
- Nurse manager will discuss on-call and scheduling details during interview
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late requests may not be approved
- Candidates must be aware of and prioritize completion of onboarding modules promptly to avoid delays
