Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing scores required)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
• Additional preferred certifications (not required): PALS, TNCC, NRP, CHEMO (see notes below)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
  • HHS/OIG (monthly)
  • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Education verification required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for new candidates)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted)

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail testing on ECG and medication dosing during orientation
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Annual acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing required

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
• Two professional references from within one year of start, from supervisors or managers (co-worker references not accepted)
• Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
