Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Oakland, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 24 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
- 8-hour day shifts
- Must hold a valid California RN License
- Must have AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Case Management experience required
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities is required
- Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare-related field preferred
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA certification required for all clinical positions
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA certification required for certain units (not specifically required for this role unless assigned to those units)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA certification required for all pediatric units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for certain pediatric critical care areas
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Current and valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID matching professional license
- 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), TB testing (2 negative tests required), Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster requirements or approved exemptions
- Annual TB questionnaire and other health screenings as required
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with passing score of 80% or higher
- Unit-specific competency exam within 12 months of start, passing score 80% or higher
- Core Parts I, II, and III training modules with passing scores, completed within a year prior to start and updated annually
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication testing on first day of orientation (specific to nursing roles)
- UCSF Learning Center modules must be completed ASAP after clearance and before working on the floor
- Cyber Security Awareness Training and Quiz (annual requirement)
- HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module and Quiz (for clinical staff)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Case Management experience
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Additional Information
- Must be able to float to other UCSF facilities as needed
- Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent place of employment
- Updated resume with last 7 years of work history required; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
