Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Frederick, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a suburban hospital approximately an hour from Baltimore and Washington DC.
• Experience required in OB Triage.
• Must have 3 years of current and strong Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience.
• Rotating weekends and holidays required; no call and no block scheduling accepted.
• Prior travel experience is required.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Active fetal monitoring certification: C-EFM preferred; AWHONN Intermediate accepted initially but C-EFM must be obtained if contract extends to 1 year or more.
• MD/Compact nursing license in hand.

Unit Bed Count

• Labor & Delivery: 9 beds
• Triage: 4 beds
• Operating Room: 2 beds

Key Requirements & Compliance

• Proof of I9 or Attestation.
• Government issued photo ID required during hours of service.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal check, SS trace, sex offender, and education verification.
• Education verification required (high school, GED, or college degree; certificates not accepted).
• Pass/fail testing including medication/pharmacology competency and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams.
• Completion of facility-specific Net Learning Modules and orientation exams (must score 80% or higher).
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
• Fit mask testing required prior to start.
• Required immunizations and health documents:

  • Tdap vaccine (no declination allowed)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters if low titer
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)

Experience & References

• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months required.
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the system for over 1 year.

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Rotating weekends and holidays.
• No call required.
• No block scheduling accepted.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses with prior travel experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in Maryland.
