Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts
  • Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
  • Pass/fail ECG and medication testing required onsite during orientation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background checks including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
    • HHS/OIG (monthly)
    • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, must be updated annually
  • Education verification required
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates starting 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for pass/fail testing during orientation
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
  • Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Candidates must comply with facility policies regarding fingerprinting and background checks, including completing fingerprinting at the facility if required
