Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery RN (Registered Nurse)
Location: Los Angeles, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a travel contract at a busy hospital with approximately 200 births per month. The unit includes 12 L&D beds, 10 triage beds, and 12 antepartum beds.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (including high-risk deliveries)
- Active certifications/licenses:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN
- California RN License
- Experience with circulating and scrubbing in C-sections required
- Familiarity with high-risk delivery management including use of Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, etc.
- Travel nursing experience is preferred (not strictly required)
- No acrylic or overlay nails allowed during assignment
Unit Details
- Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum - Perinatal
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Fetal monitoring system: Fetal Link
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner
- Charge nurse role available; charge nurses take patient assignments if needed
- Support staff: 2 OB techs per shift assist with deliveries and C-sections, also help with stocking supplies
- OB/Neonatologist coverage: 2 OB attendings and 1 neonatologist on-site 24/7
- Respiratory Therapist available 24/7 from NICU
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- IV team not available
- Floating: L&D nurses float to antepartum and postpartum units
- Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts on unit
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift length: 12 hours (7 AM - 7 PM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Call: No call required
- Holidays: One major and two minor holidays required
- Scrubs: Provided; sterile scrubs required
Patient Population
- Patients 20 weeks gestation and above
- High-risk cases including blood pressure issues, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, substance abuse, etc.
This role is ideal for a Labor & Delivery nurse with solid experience in high-risk deliveries looking for a travel contract in a high-volume California hospital.
