Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position at a major hospital campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
  • Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse role.
  • Rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing required during orientation; passing scores are mandatory.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty (Registered Nurse).
  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience; travel experience in these areas is acceptable.
  • Oncology/chemotherapy administration experience preferred but not required. Oncology nurses encouraged to apply; training provided for chemotherapy administration.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a license from a compact state.
  • Required certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
    • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must be current)
  • Additional certifications preferred or required depending on unit:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required
  • Chemotherapy certification not required for oncology nurses.

Prior Travel Experience

  • Travel experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry is acceptable to meet recent experience requirements.
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience stated.

Orientation & Testing

  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing.
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication administration required for bedside RNs (except OR).
  • Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing-specific code.
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • References: Two professional references from within one year of start required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Additional Requirements

  • Application must include 3 years of prior work history, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment.
  • Candidates must complete all required onboarding modules prior to clearance to start.
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and testing.
