Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Telemetry (Tower 5)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Specialty: Medical Telemetry (MS Tele RN - Tower 5)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Unit: Medical Telemetry (Tower 5)
Unit Size: 30 beds
Patient Acuity: High acuity patients with approximately 1/3 patient turnover per day
Common Diagnoses: Gynecological surgeries, pre-liver transplant, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), cellulitis, pneumonia, diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
Charge Nurse Role: Yes, no patient assignment
Support Staff: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm), including nights
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
Holidays: Scheduled based on unit coverage
Floating: May float to any MedSurg or Telemetry floor
Orientation: 2 days floor-specific orientation
EMR System: Cerner
Telemetry Equipment: Phillips; RNs must be able to read EKGs
Ventilator Support: Bipap, Cpap (patients must be independent)
IV Team: SWAT RN available for difficult IV sticks
Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
Pharmacy: Available 24/7
Scrub Color: Navy

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Arizona
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Emergency Department (ED) experience
Neuro ICU experience
One completed travel assignment
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
IV experience
Experience reading EKGs
Experience with Cerner EMR system
