Job Opportunity: RN - Coronary Care ICU (T4)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Specialty: Coronary Care ICU (T4) / CTICU/CVICU
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit with high acuity patients.
- Patient types include cardiac surgery recovery, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, ECMO, TAVR, and more.
- Float to other ICUs and telemetry units; patient ratio on telemetry is 4:1. Floating to Westgate campus may be required.
- Shifts are 12-hour (7am-7pm), with 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and holiday rotation.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:1 to 1:2, with a high number of 1:1 assignments.
- Charge nurse duties included (no patient assignment).
- Work alongside intensivists (in-house days, on-call nights), respiratory therapists 24/7, and pharmacy support 24/7.
- High number of bedside procedures including bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, epidurals.
- Unit uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems.
- Orientation includes 2 days floor-specific training plus a pass/fail SIMs Lab on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (or port-a-cath insertion for ED).
- Teaching hospital environment; nursing students may be present.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license for Arizona.
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in the specialty being submitted (Coronary Care ICU/CTICU/CVICU).
- Level I Trauma experience required.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; CCRN certification preferred.
- Experience with Cerner EMR required.
- Must pass a Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts). Failure results in 6-month disqualification in the region.
- Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab during orientation.
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.
- Prior travel experience is required for ED and Neuro ICU roles; this position implies travel experience is preferred but does not explicitly require prior travel experience for this ICU role.
Additional Notes
- Candidates cannot hold multiple contracts simultaneously with this employer.
- Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team.
- Parking is assigned with shuttle service to the facility; night shift parking in a garage.
- High acuity environment with frequent bedside procedures.
- Must be competent in sterile technique and common ICU nursing skills.
- Facility will not consider contracts shorter than 13 weeks.
- Weekend and holiday work required as part of the schedule.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong critical care skills, trauma experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity teaching hospital environment.
