Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg 4W

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical (MedSurg)
• Beds: 22 private rooms
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, infection
• Drip Management: Heparin only (no cardiac gtts)
• Telemetry: No telemetry on this unit, but telemetry experience preferred due to potential float to other units
• Respiratory Therapy: RT assigned to unit; nurses not expected to manage respiratory equipment directly
• Support Staff: No PCTs; resource RN utilized in addition to charge RN
• Scrubs: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Orientation: 2 shifts with preceptor on unit
• Schedule: Self-scheduling, 4 weeks at a time
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend days per pay period (Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: Included in rotation
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Travelers float first to other med/surg/tele units; ICU RN ratio 1:3
• Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts
• Additional Notes: New unit with ongoing development; team-oriented environment

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years MedSurg nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• BLS certification

Additional Notes

• SIMs Lab includes Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, lifts, restraints, and wound care education
• Maintaining sterile field competency is critical; failure in SIMs Lab may result in termination
• 50-mile radius rule applies for travel assignments

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs with trauma experience who are comfortable working in a dynamic, growing unit and have prior travel nursing experience.
