Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Case Manager) - Travel/Contract

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position working in the Emergency Department. The role involves case management duties including discharge planning, needs assessment, ordering durable medical equipment (DME), and plan of care development. The position requires experience in acute hospital settings and regulatory compliance related to CMS.


Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • 5x8 hour shifts, Evenings (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers)
  • Experience in ICU, Medical-Surgical, PICU, Step-Down Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Intermediate Care, or Observation specialties
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intermediate Care settings
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in an acute care setting
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Case management skills including discharge planning, needs assessment, ordering durable medical equipment (DME), and plan of care development
  • Regulatory experience with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services)

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - may be required depending on unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - if applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - may be preferred
  • NIH Stroke Certification - may be required for certain units
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) - may be preferred

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for last 5 years
  • References: 2 supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year
  • Fingerprinting (if applicable for position) completed in North Carolina
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code acknowledgment, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgment, and onboarding tasks
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication competency exams

Additional Notes

  • The client has a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling.
  • Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline prior to start date.
  • Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, hats, masks, etc.).
  • EPIC test required for RNs and allied health candidates, with two attempts allowed.
  • Prior travel experience is mandatory; no first-time travelers accepted.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with case management skills and prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week assignment in a hospital emergency department setting.
