Job Opportunity: Step Down Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Shift schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating shifts possible based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience, with experience within the last year.
• Minimum 18 months or more of total travel nursing experience.
• Current certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks including 7-year FCRA compliant search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks.
• FBI and state fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually.
• Education verification.
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted).
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.
• References: 2 professional references from recent employment within 1 year (supervisory or managerial).
• Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience.

Additional Information

• Orientation includes facility-specific online training modules that must be completed prior to start.
• Medication and ECG competency exams required at orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting at the facility if required.
• Candidates with latex allergies must notify to ensure appropriate supplies.
• Candidates must comply with all health and safety documentation and immunization requirements.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but recent Stepdown experience can include travel assignments.
