Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Frederick, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a Labor & Delivery and OB Triage setting with a total bed count of 15 (9 L&D, 4 Triage, 2 OR)
• Located in a suburban area approximately one hour from Baltimore and Washington DC, with access to restaurants, shopping, parks, and historic districts
• Rotating weekends and holidays required; no call required
• No block scheduling accepted

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) or AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Certifications and Compliance

• Must maintain current certifications as required by the facility and specialty
• Pass/fail testing and competency exams required prior to start and during assignment
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and net learning modules (approximately 4-5 hours) with a minimum passing score of 80%
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal exclusions screening required
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health requirements including:

  • Tdap vaccine (no declination allowed)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
• Physical exam attesting to ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Fit mask testing required prior to start (specific mask types mandated)
• Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months
• Complete employment application and skills checklist as applicable

Work Schedule

• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No call required

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses with OB triage skills who have prior travel experience and hold the necessary certifications and licenses.
