Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730)
• Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no call
• Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Experience Required: CVICU experience required
• Additional Experience Preferred: Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area
• Equipment Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required
• Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Arrhythmia experience
• Telemetry experience

Testing & Competencies

• Telemetry test (Adult Annual Telemetry Test) required before start and updated annually
• Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication competency
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exams as applicable to specialty

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender search
• Education verification as applicable
• Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated)
• Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
• Physical exam (Aya standard)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • TB test or chest X-ray
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or approved exemptions
  • Varicella or approved exemptions
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of Wisconsin BID Form (state mandated)
• Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing
• Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
• References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
• Employment application and annual skills checklist

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Telemetry test must be passed with at least 80% overall and 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory.
• Remediation and retesting allowed up to 3 attempts with required remediation course after 2nd failure.
• No call required for this assignment.

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with strong telemetry and arrhythmia skills, comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a critical care environment.
