Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730)
- Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no call
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Experience Required: CVICU experience required
- Additional Experience Preferred: Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area
- Equipment Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience
- Telemetry experience
Testing & Competencies
- Telemetry test (Adult Annual Telemetry Test) required before start and updated annually
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication competency
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams as applicable to specialty
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender search
- Education verification as applicable
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated)
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam (Aya standard)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB test or chest X-ray
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or approved exemptions
- Varicella or approved exemptions
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of Wisconsin BID Form (state mandated)
- Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
- Employment application and annual skills checklist
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Telemetry test must be passed with at least 80% overall and 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory.
- Remediation and retesting allowed up to 3 attempts with required remediation course after 2nd failure.
- No call required for this assignment.
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with strong telemetry and arrhythmia skills, comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a critical care environment.
