Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
• On-call: None required
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Orientation sessions held biweekly
• Open to block scheduling subject to facility approval
• First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are eligible

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 3 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Stroke Certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
• Social Security Card (if used for I9 verification)
• Background checks within 90 days of start, including:

  • SSN Trace, County, Alias, Nationwide, Sex Offender, International (if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification as applicable
• OFAC Sanctions List Search within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation for positive history)
• Required immunizations/vaccinations with no exemptions allowed:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
• Negative 10-panel drug test (including THC) within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required by the unit
• Completion of required online orientation modules prior to start
• Setup of facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for orientation and work access

Additional Requirements

• Color Blind Testing Online (if applicable)
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held
• Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge administered at orientation (passing score 80%)
• Competency checklist (CBO) to be completed within 3 weeks after start date
• Facility-specific instructions and documentation must be followed as provided during orientation

• Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments at this facility may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file
• Local candidates within 75 miles may receive a different rate (not included here)
• Candidates must be prepared to meet all health and compliance requirements prior to start date
• Targeted start dates are May 18 or June 1; other start dates may be redirected
