Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Ohio

Location

• Mount Vernon, Ohio
• Rural setting within a 50-mile radius restriction

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Rotation: Every other week (EOW)
• Start Date: ASAP, no later than April 13
• Block scheduling available on a case-by-case basis
• Free parking available in unrestricted areas

Job Description

• MedSurg RN position on night shift
• Floating allowed only to similar acuity units, no floating outside acuity level
• 99-bed, Joint Commission-accredited community hospital
• Various local recreational activities nearby (parks, golf, hiking)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA, ARC, or US Department of Defense accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as required (preferred but not required for MedSurg)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required (not typically required for MedSurg)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required (not typically required for MedSurg)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred but not required for ER (not required for MedSurg)
• Other specialty certifications as applicable (e.g., CHEMO, STABLE) are not required for this position

Facility Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
• Photo required for facility badge
• Completion of facility onboarding, professionalism, and appearance policies prior to start
• Completion of HealthStream training modules immediately upon receipt during orientation
• Review and sign facility-specific medication management policies
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• For Home Health travelers only: valid state driver’s license and current auto insurance required (not applicable here)

• Candidates may be pulled from the unit if mandatory modules are not completed on time
• Rural community environment with local parks and recreational activities
• No floating outside of acuity level
