Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse with potential to float to units caring for the same patient population, including Emergency Department.
- Rotating shifts: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (either night 7pm–7:30am or day 7am–7:30pm). Shift rotation may occur based on operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS Stroke Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption submitted.
- Immunizations and documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemption
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year.
Background and Compliance
- Background check required prior to assignment start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months. Includes FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
Documentation and Onboarding
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone).
- Photo for badge may be required.
- Resume/CV with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
- Two professional references from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
Additional Notes
- Orientation includes baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation; remediation and retake opportunities provided if needed.
- Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation promptly to avoid delays.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with recent acute care experience seeking a travel contract in Ohio with rotating 12-hour shifts.
