Description
Registered Nurse (LDRP) - Night Shift
Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Nights (6pm - 6am)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit Overview
- Unit: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby (L&D/PP/MB)
- Beds: 4 LDRP beds, 2 triage beds, 3 postpartum beds
- OR Suites for C-Sections: 1
- Birth Volume: 0-2 births per day, about 200 per year
- OBs are on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time; anesthesia available in-house during business hours and on-call after hours
- Respiratory Therapy support is limited; pediatric on-call staff may assist at deliveries if RT unavailable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: OBIX
- Charge nurse is one of two nurses on shift and takes an assignment
- No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience
- Training in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) care
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Ability to triage patients and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse
- Ability to titrate drips (commonly Pitocin)
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6pm-6am)
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately half of all weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Holiday Requirement: Approximately half of winter holidays
- Some self-scheduling allowed but may be adjusted based on unit needs
- Floating: Rarely required to assist Med-Surg as "helping hands"
- Orientation: 3 days, night shift orientation (6pm-6am)
- Candidates must be in-state for the week of orientation (remote completion of modules prior to orientation is allowed)
Additional Information
- The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios as much as possible given rural hospital setting
- No call or standby requirements
- Scrubs are not provided and there is no color requirement for dress code
- Radius requirement: Must submit a valid driver’s license and be within 60 miles of the facility
