Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Rockville, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Position: Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
  • Accepting RCIS certification if candidate has IR experience
  • Caseload ratio: 8-12 cases
  • Weekend call required: 1 full weekend per month
  • On-call required approximately 7-10 days per month; STEMI call team must respond within 30 minutes of activation with a guaranteed 2-hour callback
  • No floating between units
  • Strict no-tobacco/nicotine policy (includes all forms: cigarettes, vapes, gum, patches, etc.) – failure of nicotine/cotinine drug screen results in automatic cancellation
  • ASAP start
  • Block scheduling not accommodated

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Maryland
  • Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
  • Interventional Radiology Technologist experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge (taken within last 6 months)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation forms onsite
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • No tobacco/nicotine use for at least 90 days prior to start (acknowledged via signed checklist)
  • Maryland fingerprinting required for travelers in behavioral health units (not applicable here but noted)

Important Notes

  • Facility uses Cerner and McKesson for charting
  • Parking available with badge access for free exit
  • Candidates must comply with strict no-tobacco policy; any nicotine use leads to automatic cancellation
  • STEMI call team response time is critical (30 minutes)
  • No accommodation for block scheduling or floating between units

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab or IR Techs with required certifications and licensure, who are ready for a fast-paced acute care environment with on-call and weekend responsibilities.
