Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical) - Long-Term Assignment
Location: Akron, Ohio
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse with recent experience to provide patient care on a float basis. Candidates must have recent Epic electronic health record experience and meet specific credentialing and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Phlebotomy experience
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Health & Immunizations:
- Fit Test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Pre-employment physical within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- MMR: Titer or 2 vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Titer or complete vaccine series; signed declinations accepted.
- Influenza vaccine required October–April (medical/religious exemptions require approval).
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with negative results; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap within 10 years (optional).
- Annual TB questionnaire (facility-specific form).
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Background Checks:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace and nationwide searches within 90 days of start.
- OIG, EPLS, and education verifications within 90 days of start.
- Competency Exams & Checklists:
- Unit-specific competency exam and skills checklist completed within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics within 90 days of start, updated annually.
Additional Information
- No block scheduling; only up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed, excluding the first two weeks of assignment.
- Travelers continuously on assignment without breaks are not required to update physicals or background checks annually.
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly encouraged; medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
This position requires a professional nurse ready to work flexible shifts with strong clinical skills and compliance with all credentialing and health requirements.
