Registered Nurse (CVOR) - Travel Assignment
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (8:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday–Thursday)
Hours: 40 hours per week (10-hour shifts; no 12-hour shifts)
Job Description
- Provide circulating and scrub nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) performing open heart and vascular procedures (both open and percutaneous).
- Assist anesthesia with induction and transport patients from pre-op to PACU or inpatient units.
- Some charge nurse responsibilities required after hours (3:00–7:00 PM or 5:00–7:00 PM).
- May be asked to float to the Main OR on lower volume days or when CVOR cases finish early.
- Call coverage required Monday through Thursday and every other weekend (on-call from Friday 3:00 PM through Monday 6:30 AM).
- Average CVOR case volume: 1–9 surgeries per day, 25–30 cases per week.
- Team includes 3 cardiac surgeons, 3 vascular surgeons, 2 techs, and 2 nurses who scrub.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license.
- Circulate and scrub experience required.
- Experience with open heart surgery strongly preferred.
- Experience with vascular procedures required.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; CNOR certification preferred.
- Familiarity with hybrid operating suites is beneficial.
- Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book skills exam during orientation.
- Valid driver’s license required at time of application.
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas.
- Must not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility within 50 miles radius or associated with certain healthcare systems.
Additional Information
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
- Call shifts vary; weekend cases are rare (5% of cases), mostly emergencies.
- Staffing flexibility allows for 4 ten-hour shifts or 5 eight-hour shifts per week.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Candidates who can only circulate but have strong CV experience may be considered.
