Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location

  • Cleveland, Ohio

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week (12 hours each)
  • Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend shifts only: Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon (no other weekend combinations considered)

Unit and Patient Population

  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit
  • Potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for similar patient population

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 18 months (1.5 years) experience in Med/Surg Telemetry
  • Med/Surg Telemetry experience within the last year
  • Minimum 18 months of total travel experience
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification (annual renewal required)

Orientation and Testing

  • Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed at orientation
  • Prep materials provided before first attempt
  • Remediation and retake opportunities available if needed

Licensure and Background Checks

  • Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
  • Background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
  • Candidates start allowed with fingerprinting results pending but must complete prior to start

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination (agency-approved medical/religious exemptions accepted)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually by November 30; no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Documentation and Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on phone)
  • Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos locks candidate out
  • Modules typically take multiple days; must be completed before clearance to start
  • Candidates with less than 6 months gap between Cleveland Clinic assignments may be exempt from re-orientation modules

References and Work History

  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with minimum 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area

Additional Notes

  • Traveler must be available to work at least every other holiday
  • Fingerprinting will also be conducted onsite at the facility in addition to agency process
  • Candidates with latex allergies must notify facility to ensure availability of latex-free gloves
  • Religious and medical exemptions for immunizations and fit mask are accepted but require agency and facility approval through formal process

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs seeking a travel contract with weekend night shifts in a large acute care setting.
