Job Opportunity: RN CVICU
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
- Provide critical care nursing in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Care for critically ill patients, primarily in cardiothoracic surgery (open heart recovery) and neuro/neurosurgery.
- Experience with ICU-level care for COVID-19 patients, including ECMO support.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Credentials and Documentation
- Current RN license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Professional resume/profile.
- Two professional references.
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, unexpired, matching address requirements).
- Health and immunization documentation including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted).
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine (optional, but mask required if declined during flu season).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray if positive, plus annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite).
- Ascension-specific onboarding requirements including:
- Color vision test (updated every 3 years).
- Core competencies exam (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score.
- EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
- Skills checklist for specialty (updated annually).
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, and EPLS (updated annually).
- Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start).
- Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually).
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations.
Additional Information
- This role requires working with some of the most critically ill patients in the region.
- The environment is high acuity and fast paced, requiring strong critical care skills and adaptability.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs seeking a challenging role in cardiovascular and neurocritical care with exposure to advanced ICU therapies including ECMO.
