Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (PCU Float Pool)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Summary
Seeking travel RNs for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with PCU float responsibilities. The unit is a 49-bed telemetry/medical floor with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio. Nurses are required to interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift. The unit cares for patients with CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI problems, diabetes, post-cath care, and total joint replacements.
Required Qualifications
- Current Arizona RN license
- Minimum 2 years recent Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience
- Minimum 1 year Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips, including some exposure to CVA and TIA patients
- Cerner electronic health record experience recommended
Orientation & Training
- One shift of unit-specific orientation
- Orientation includes exposure to every other week (EOW) and night shifts, with initial float training
Unit Details & Work Environment
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide support ratio: 1:10-15
- No requirement for RNs to titrate drips; set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are used
- Respiratory equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments
- Floating required: may float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
Scheduling & Time Off
- 7am–7pm shifts (12 hours) on nights
- Schedules created 4 weeks in advance with self-scheduling subject to manager approval
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage expected for Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving with specific shift patterns
Additional Requirements
- Must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within 50 miles of the job site
