Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Work Setting
- Inpatient Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Unit uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 for 8 beds, with an average daily census of 12
Shift Details
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
Holidays
- If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If two major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If three major holidays fall, expected to work two
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Orientation and Compliance
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks, 19 hours for 19 weeks)
Clinical Screening
- Candidates will undergo a clinical screen to determine fit before final manager approval
Facility Provided
- Scrub color provided by the facility
Required Pre-Employment Documents and Verifications
- Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry check
- Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Education verification or official transcripts/diploma or verified license acceptable
- State RN license verification within 30 days prior to start
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by client but required by agency)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if previously positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (boosters allowed post-start if eligible)
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters allowed post-start if eligible)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
Competency Exams (Agency Required)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam for nursing
Policies and Compliance
- Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of clinical experience in inpatient L&D and PACU settings, who are comfortable working day shifts with a 1:1 patient ratio and are able to comply with strict orientation and compliance requirements.
