Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
- Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience
- Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Professional Credentials & Documentation
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Driver’s License or State ID (valid, unexpired, matching address requirements).
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other screenings within 90 days of start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
Certifications & Exams
- Completion of specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Completion of core competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Epic system test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
- Skills checklist for specialty, completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Annual NIH certification updates as applicable.
Health & Immunizations
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Documentation of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Documentation of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- Fit test for respiratory protection, preferably completed prior to start.
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Additional Notes
- Must complete various Ascension-specific onboarding modules and attestations prior to or at start.
- Optional: Unit-specific checklist and badge photo (headshot with white or blue background).
- Must be able to work full shift hours and handle the demands of a telemetry nursing environment.
