Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 5 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Four weekend shifts (Friday night and/or Saturday night) every 4-week schedule
  • Float Requirement: Must be able to float to a Perinatal unit at a nearby hospital as needed
  • Work Environment: Academic setting preferred
  • Patient Care: Care for patients throughout childbirth experience including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and couplet care; assist with NSVDs and C-Sections
  • Uniform: Navy scrubs required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with high-risk patients
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in an academic hospital setting is preferred
  • Must be able to provide care for laboring patients including circulating during normal spontaneous vaginal deliveries (NSVDs) and Cesarean sections
  • Ability to flex to a Perinatal unit as needed

Compliance and Documentation

  • Current and valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks including:
    • Social Security Trace
    • 7-year National Criminal History Search (county searches)
    • National Sex Offender Search
    • FACIS Level 3 search (includes OFAC)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification: BSN or MSN required for RNs (diploma or official transcripts acceptable)
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
  • Facility-specific documents and trainings required prior to start, including:
    • HIPAA training and acknowledgment
    • Harassment Prevention Training (California mandated)
    • Child, Elder, and Domestic Abuse Reporting acknowledgments
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Access Request Form (not required for RNs)
    • Pyxis Form (for RNs)
    • Online training modules including C-ICARE, Code of Conduct, Radiation Hazard Awareness, Age Specific Training, and Safe Patient Handling
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Negative TB test (QGold) within 1 year
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declination accepted)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or proof of vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or completed vaccine series)
    • Varicella (positive titer or proof of vaccination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (specific vaccine timing required)
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (Aya requirement)
  • References: Two required, supervisor level or above, with at least one within the last year including dates of affiliation
  • Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days
  • Work history verification for last 5 years

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for all RNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (not annually required)
