Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit during night shifts.
• Must complete ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety (SafeMedicate) competency exams during orientation with passing scores.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed.
  • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval).
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out the candidate.
• Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start.
• Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months must complete modules again.
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

References & Employment History

• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director.
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty.

Additional Notes

• All requirements and scheduling details are non-negotiable and must be confirmed at submission.
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Candidates must maintain compliance with all health and licensing requirements throughout the assignment.
• Passing scores required on medication administration and ECG interpretation exams during orientation (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%).
• Candidates with gaps less than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, seeking a night shift travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility.
