Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
- Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
- Schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays.
- Units require Telemetry experience in oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
- Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Intermediate Care experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
- Experience caring for transplant patients
- Telemetry experience
Certifications & Testing
- Telemetry test (Adult and Pediatric as applicable) must be completed and passed before start.
- Telemetry test administered via facility LMS with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms).
- Remediation and retake process available for failed attempts (up to 3 attempts).
- BLS and ACLS must be current and AHA-issued.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP) to be checked based on unit assignment but not explicitly required here.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening required within 90 days prior to start.
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (excluding traffic violations).
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems post-hire.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of immunity or vaccination (or approved medical/religious exemption) for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination form)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (required annually during flu season)
- TB testing: Negative IGRA blood test or two-step skin test within required timeframes; if history of positive TB, must provide negative chest x-ray and TB questionnaire.
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols.
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge must meet facility specifications (passport-style, no selfies, solid background).
- Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start.
- Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail telemetry testing.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard).
Work Environment & Expectations
- Work in a hospital setting with acute and progressive care patients requiring telemetry monitoring.
- Exposure to oncology, cardiac, ventilated, and transplant patients.
- Must be able to work night shifts and some holidays.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and critical care skills seeking a travel contract in Wisconsin.
