Description

Registered Nurse (ER/ED) - Colorado, Frisco

Job Details

  • Specialty: Emergency Room / Emergency Department (ER/ED)
  • Location: Frisco, Colorado
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
  • Scheduling: Leadership sets schedule based on needs; no self-scheduling or block scheduling
  • Floating: Required to float within a 60-mile radius zone covering multiple ERs; traveler responsible for housing that allows this

Unit Information

  • Level 3 Trauma Center
  • Emergency Stroke Ready
  • Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Orthopedic Trauma
  • ER holds are intermixed within the ER (no separate holding area)
  • No separate psych/seclusion rooms
  • Average patient volume: ~150 patients per day
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
  • Charge nurse takes an assignment
  • Support staff includes techs assisting nurses and triage, unit secretaries
  • Respiratory Therapists available 24/7, perform breathing treatments and ABGs
  • No monitor techs; RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Phlebotomy: RNs will be trained and perform point-of-care lab testing
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
  • Unit-specific orientation: 2-3 days, includes nights and every other weekend coverage

  • Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
  • NSTEMI (Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
  • Pneumonia
  • Trauma
  • Stroke
  • Hypertension (HTN)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license for Colorado
  • Experience in ER/ED nursing (minimum 1 year recommended based on specialty requirements)
  • Ability to float within a 60-mile radius zone
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
  • Must be present in-state for the week of orientation (even if some modules are remote)

Additional Notes

  • Common drips and medications are standard ER medications
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Driver’s license must be submitted
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
