Registered Nurse – CVICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), 3 shifts per week
- Schedule includes every other weekend and some holidays
- No on-call duties
- Work setting: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas preferred
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening required within 90 days prior to start
- Comprehensive background check including SSN trace, nationwide sex offender check, and review of all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (traffic violations generally excluded)
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols
- Physical exam recommended to meet agency standards (not facility-mandated)
Certifications & Testing
- Telemetry testing:
- Must complete and pass Adult Telemetry Test via LMS (WorkRamp) 2 Fridays prior to start date
- Candidates allowed 3 attempts with remediation after 2nd failure
- Failure after 3rd attempt results in contract cancellation
- Other certifications:
- BLS and ACLS must be current and issued by AHA
- Renewal plans must be finalized by the 15th of the month prior to expiration
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
Immunizations & Health Requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing: IGRA blood test or two-step skin test within required timeframes; negative chest x-ray if history of positive TB test
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B: Completed vaccination series with positive titer or signed facility-specific declination form
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13)
- Other vaccines (e.g., Meningococcal) required if working in specific departments (not typically applicable for CVICU)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge: Passport-style photo required (no selfies, headwear only for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing
- Completion of facility communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Medical or religious exemption forms for flu, MMR, Varicella vaccines as applicable

- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
