Registered Nurse

Bismarck, North Dakota

Schedule

12-hour shifts
Days
Every other weekend
Every other holiday

Unit Overview

Med/Tele/PCU setting
Adult and geriatric patients
32 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5, with occasional 1:5-6 on nights; PCU overflow ratio 1:3

Required Qualifications

BLS certification
ACLS certification
PCU experience
Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
Ability to titrate drips

Clinical Experience / Skills

Telemetry/cardiac nursing
Cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers
Care of patients with cardiac history, sepsis, influenza, pneumonia, COVID, ETOH, and acute-on-chronic conditions
Experience with BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo
Experience with titratable drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin, nitroglycerin, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose dopamine

Work Expectations

Charge nurse may take a light assignment of 2-3 patients
Floating required to helping hands, PCU, med-surg, and some ER holds/boarding
RN is expected to read their own strips
First-time travelers are accepted

Orientation

2 unit-specific orientation shifts

Additional Notes

Epic is preferred
Scrubs may be any color
