Description

RN Medicine Specialty

Location

  • Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts

Role Summary

  • Provides nursing care in a hospital setting for patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
  • Responsible for an assigned group of patients and coordinates care, documentation, medication administration, IV infusions, blood products, and communication with patients, families, and care teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oklahoma
  • 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in Charge roles
  • Ortho Trauma experience
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
  • Some computer skills

Preferred / Helpful

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a Board Approved Program
  • Step-down and medical-surgical experience
  • Charge experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
  • Note changes in physician orders for assigned patients
  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data and intervene when necessary
  • Administer medications as prescribed
  • Interact with patients and families regarding the care plan and discharge
  • Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
  • Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel
  • Delegate tasks to support staff
