Surgical Technician

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM; weekend call rotation with a 15-minute response time
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Overview

This role prepares the operating room, maintains the sterile field, and supports the surgical team during procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technician (1 year of experience)
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year
• BLS

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgery
• Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment
• Set up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
• Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery
• Assist with gowning, gloving, and patient positioning
• Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator
• Keep suture carts organized and monitor expiration dates
• Turn over rooms between cases
• Assist with patient transport between cart and bed
• Stock adequate surgical supplies
• Keep records of steam sterilizer use
